They're back... Skimmers that is!

I was walking with a friend on the beach when we both noticed and delighted in seeing these strangers mixed in with a flock of seagulls and terns. Very distinct in their markings, skimmers are a rare treat, only visiting us during the winter months. These were the first I'd seen this year and of course I had to share.

Spotlight Sun

Since the first of the year it has been cloudy, gray, rainy and I have been missing the sun like crazy. At last, on this January 12 morning the sun emerged from the clouds in a spectacular fashion. Not only were the colors brilliant, the image reminds me of a spotlight announcing the coming of the day. Hurrah.

No Parking Gull

T'was a rainy new year's day so no beach walk and we had just a brief spot of sun this morning before clouds rolled in with rains predicted again for this afternoon. Not a lovely start to 2014, for sure. 
I did enjoy seeing a sea gull apparently flouting the admonition to refrain from parking on this spot. Starting the new year with disdain for the rules... 
Um-m-m-m, I'm okay with that.
